Specialties
Pediatric & Adolescent Anxiety & OCD
Child and adolescent anxiety can look like many things, including constant reassurance seeking, avoidance, perfectionism, difficulties with separation, and big emotions.
Anxiety and OCD can impact the whole family system so I take a systems approach. With a combination of family-based CBT, ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), and the SPACE parent coaching program, we can help your child and family gain effective tools for last change.
Now offering Community-Based OCD treatment. Supporting you and your child in the moment where OCD is present.
Additional specialties include picky eating and selective mutism.
Perinatal Anxiety & OCD
With a new baby comes so much joy and hope, as well as unexpected anxiety. Often times symptoms of anxiety and OCD are hidden, even from friends and family. You are not alone and with support you can feel better.
With specialized training in CBT and ERP for perinatal anxiety and OCD, you and your partner will gain the skills to see symptom reduction so you can enjoy your growing family.
I also offer community-based OCD treatment. Meeting you where you are and supporting you in real time as you practice the skills we’ve learned together.
Play Therapy
Children communicate, learn and process events through play. Play is their language. Through this warm and engaging approach kids build the skills to express their feelings, build coping skills and gain a sense of self-efficacy as they move through the world. Play therapy can be an essential tool to help children gain peer skills, prepare for kindergarten, or process a difficult event like divorce, loss, medical trauma/phobias and illness.
Play Therapy is an evidenced-based model and as Registered Play Therapist, I’ve trained with the leading Play Therapist, Eliana Gil. I value regular communication with parents and provide parent and family sessions throughout our work together. I often integrate mindfulness, movement and expressive arts to promote growth and healing.
Parent Coaching
Family Illness & Cancer
Family illness can disrupt an entire family system overnight and can be a long journey ahead. With compassion and care, I am here to support your family. I provide a safe and warm place for children and siblings to express their feelings and build healthy coping skills. I also work directly with parents to provide developmental expertise on ways they can talk to their children about the illness and support them every step of the way.
With over twelve years working at Children’s National Hospital and training in both mindfulness and yoga, I also help children and families learn body-based coping skills to calm their nervous system. This can be incredibly helpful to cope with chronic pain or invasive procedures.
As a parent myself, I understand the joys and challenges of parenting. When our children are struggling, we can often feel helpless and overwhelmed. With warmth and compassion, I bring the latest research and early childhood mental health expertise to create personalized plans and strategies to help your family thrive. Whether you’re looking to reduce daily stressors, help your child through a loss or transition, or support symptom reduction for an anxious child, parent coaching is right for you.
Offering the SPACE program (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions).
Other specialities include neurodiversity, ADHD, educational advocacy and IEPs, and helping a child cope with family illness, cancer and grief.
Specialized Women’s Therapy
I also specialize in working with women in all stages of life including the perinatal period, motherhood, divorce and dating after divorce.
With self-compassion we explore needs and wants within relationships, patterns of relating to others and self, and strategies your nervous system has used to protect itself in the past that may not be serving you now.
Training includes EMDR, Applied Polyvagal Yoga for trauma, Embodied Relationship Coaching with the Embody Lab and mindfulness-based self-compassion.
Come as you are. Heal, grow and thrive.
